Program Overview

The Nutrition Consultant (NC) program trains individuals who are motivated to work in the dynamic field of nutrition and natural health to be Nutrition Consultants. This program, designed for high school graduates, is distinguished by a nurturing relationship with an instructor, who guides and supports learning that is engaging and accessible.

Students at Hawthorn learn the principles of nutrition using the most up-to-date scientifically based information sources in the field. Our teaching model focuses on current holistic and conventional scientific information, utilizing guided independent study that is supportive and interactive. The program emphasizes critical thinking, teaching students to discern the quality and accuracy of research. Students are trained to address the biochemical uniqueness of their clients and to develop individual health protocols using diet, supplement, and lifestyle suggestions. Direct application of nutritional concepts is encouraged, making learning personally relevant. Hawthorn's Nutrition Consultant program provides students with nutritional tools that can be applied in everyday life to increase vitality, energy and well-being while reducing long-range disease risk.
 
Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to help consumers navigate the plethora of new and emerging health information and can help bridge conventional and complementary health models. NC Accelerated Degree

The accelerated Nutrition Consultant Certificate is designed to help you save time and money. Students requesting admission into the accelerated NC program will be required to complete their course of study within thirty-two (32) months. By completing NC 1 through the Final Examination, students will receive the NC 17 (Research Project and Presentation) course absolutely free. NC 17 is a four (4) credit course that translates into a savings of $460 for students.


Students who wish to enter the accelerated program must sign a Memorandum of Understanding and return it to the Registrar in order to be eligible for the free course. Once enrolled, this form will be available on the student website and must be submitted to the Registrar within thirty (30) days of the start of the program.
